How do you use it?

  • Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and soak your fingers or toes in this mixture for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Dry your hands or feet thoroughly afterwards and apply a regular moisturizing cream.

2. Garlic

Garlic is a popular ingredient for many treatments, including home remedies for fungal nail fungus. The bulbous plant has  important antibiotic and antimicrobial properties that can help eliminate germs and fungi that cause infections.

How do you use it?

  • Crush ten garlic cloves until you have a paste. Place this paste in a bowl of warm water and let the two ingredients work together for a few minutes. Then soak the affected body part in this mixture for fifteen minutes.
  • Another good option is to mix the garlic paste with olive oil. You then apply this mixture to your nails and let it do its work for thirty minutes.

3. Plain yogurt

The active bacterial cultures in yogurt, also known as probiotics, can help treat yeast infections.

How do you use it?

  • Apply a little plain yogurt to the affected nails and allow the yogurt time to dry. When the yogurt is dry, rinse the nails with warm water again.
  • In addition , include yogurt in your daily diet by eating a little yogurt in the morning and evening.

4. Tea tree oil

Thanks to its antiseptic properties, tea tree oil can naturally help improve the health of your hands and feet while eliminating all kinds of microorganisms.

A home remedy such as tea tree oil can be just as effective against fungal nails as a cream against swimmer’s eczema. A concentration of 25 or 50% can also help to cure infections.

When you apply pure tea tree oil (100%) to your fungal nails twice a day, your nails can look 50% better after three months of regular use. And after six months even 60%.

How do you use it?

  • Apply a drop of tea tree oil to each fungus-infected nail up to two to three times a day.
  • Never take this medicine orally!  This can cause side effects such as confusion, rash, instability, inability to walk and even a coma.

5. Vicks VapoRub

This popular ointment, commonly used to relieve symptoms of a cold or flu, can also be used to treat fungal nails.

How do you use it?

  • Clean the affected nails thoroughly and then dry them well. Then apply a small amount of Vicks VapoRub to the nails. By first cleaning your nails well, the ointment can absorb better.
  • Repeat this treatment twice a day, once preferably at bedtime.

6. Baking soda

Baking soda is quite acidic and can help fight fungus and other microorganisms that affect the health of your nails.

How do you use it?

  • Make a paste of baking soda and a little lemon juice. Apply this paste directly to the affected areas.
  • You can also sprinkle a little of this white powder into your shoe to counteract the bacteria present in it.

7. Lemon juice

Lemon’s antibiotic and antifungal properties make it a great remedy for tackling this problem once and for all.

How do you use it?

  • Squeeze the juice from a few lemons and apply this juice on the affected nails.
  • You can also just rub your nails with a lemon slice.
