The recipe of this delicious garlic soup: practical and cheap
Ingredients (for 6 people)
- 10 garlic cloves
- 6 eggs (optional)
- 12 slices of hard bread (72 grams)
- 1 piece of Serrano ham of 150 grams
- 50 ml extra virgin olive oil
- Pepper, salt and paprika powder (to taste)
- 2.5 liters of meat stock (you can also use chicken and vegetable stock)
Preparation
- The first step to make this delicious garlic soup is to peel and cut the main ingredient: the garlic cloves. Cut them into slices, but make sure they are not too thin.
- Pour some olive oil into a large pan and heat it on the stove. Once the oil has heated up, add the garlic and fry the garlic until lightly browned. The garlic usually browns very quickly, so be careful not to burn it.
- Then add the serrano ham (cut into cubes) and fry it lightly. Again, make sure it doesn’t burn or dry out.
- The next step is to add the slices of hard bread and toast with the fried garlic and Serrano ham.
- When the toast is ready, remove the pan from the heat, add the paprika and stir well. Add as much paprika powder as you like, according to your own taste.
- When the ingredients are well mixed and have taken on the color of paprika, return the pan to the stove over low heat so that the garlic and paprika do not burn.
- Add the heated stock after all the ingredients have heated up. The stock gives the soup a better taste than water.
- Let the soup cook on low heat for 20 to 25 minutes. It is best not to stir the soup and let it boil slowly.
- While you wait for it to boil, toast the other six slices of bread in a pan with some olive oil.
- After 20 minutes, add the toasted bread slices to the soup and let them soften. Season with salt and pepper and stir well.
